The northwest road of the island offers special interest to the visitor. Starting from the traditional and loud “cafenion” and “ouzeri” of the Dapia, we take the inside road to go and admire the beautiful mansion of S. Anargyrou, the benefactor of Spetses, where renovation works are in progress. This exquisite building, jewel of the island, with its neo-classic lines and its two Egyptian Sphinx standing left and right of the entrance, was once housing the Town hall, the Rotschild family and was also used as a cultural centre. Next to the Anargyrou Mansion, is the square of “Pefkakia” with its little spinney and the Bouboulina mansion-museum. Τhis mansion with the fabulous carved wooden ceiling in the official lounge, works as a museum where the visitor learns through live guiding tour about the life and work of Bouboulina. Then you go down toward the coastline road, reaching the “Possidonion” square where the important cultural events of the island take place, the highlight being the festival of “ARMATA”.

At the center of the square, the statue of Lascarina Bouboulina created by sculptor Natalia Mela. On the road side of the square, the historical hotel of “Possidonio”, built at the beginning of the 20th century by S. Anargyrou and which have seen thousands of renowned guests from the political, business and art world.  Its splendid architecture as well as the beautiful interior decoration makes it a pole of admiration. A little further, we pass by the old spinning mill “Daskalakis” which has been converted into a beautiful and luxurious tourist complex blending harmoniously traditional and modern styles. A few steps further, we pass the Town hall, a marvelous traditional mansion, set in a pretty garden decorated with the traditional Spetsiot pebbled alleys.  This promenade takes us to the area of “Kounoupitsa” and “Sourboutiou”, until the famous Anargyrou-Korgialeniou college which operated for over 50 years and brought out generations of scientists, politicians and artists (i.e. I.
