With the increase of cultural life on the island, new places
and galleries have opened over the last years, for spring and summer
happenings, such as

The “Akroproro” gallery, located in the Old Harbour
The “Astrolabe” gallery, located in the “Nissia” Hotel

and the “Kaity Antoniadou” municipal hall.

Cultural happenings are also set in various other lovely places and open air, bringing a distinct flair to the island life.

Police – Port Police  Authorities

The Police Department, the Tourist Police and the Port Police will

provide information concerning the regulations applying on the island

especially during the tourist season when there is an increased flow of

visitors and leisure boats.

Banks are opened from Monday up to Friday, 8.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. except on
official holidays.

Schedule of shops
Supermarkets and shops are opened everyday during summer,

with a break during the afternoon.
This schedule is in effect from May up to mid-October.
The rest of the year, shops are closed on Monday and Wednesday

afternoons.

Electricity
Current is 220 Volts.
Electricity in Greece is expensive, so make sure you turn off all switches before you leave your room.

Telephone
Public phones are available on the islands and you can buy cards and mobile phone cards at the Telephone Company (OTE), kiosques as well as in several shops.
Phones are also available in hotels - guesthouses - tourist offices – kiosks (higher cost)
You will get more information at the local Company  of Telecommunications of Greece (O.T.E.).

Protection of the forest
Forest covers 40% of the island and requires permanent vigilance. The largest part of it is private property
of the Institution of Anargyriou - Korgjaleniou, visitors may walk freely through it
and enjoy the magnificent views. 
During summer months, the Municipality of Spetses has recourse to voluntary help from residents or friends of the island to keep fire protection watch.
